| Gestation Date Chart This is a chart that I refer to often to determine the approximate date that a doe's kids will be born. This chart quickly calculates the due date based on an average 150 day gestation. This will only help if the date the doe was bred is known. For example, if the doe was bred on September 24th, then refer to the "Sep-Feb" row and see that it says to subtract three. This means the approximate due date for this doe will be February 21st (three minus twenty-four). Not all does will have the same gestation length. Often the number of kids she will deliver or if she's a first timer is a factor. A doe will have similar gestation lengths from year to year, so it is very helpful to keep records on this information. |

| Weight Tape Measurement Chart The chart below lists heart-girth measurements and the approximate weight of the goat. Any sewing tape measure will work. Measure the distance around the goat's heart girth - this is the area over the withers and around the chest just behind the elbow. These weights are approximate and in my experience very close to the goat's actual weight. But for exact weight measurement nothing beats a good old fashion scale! |
